On August 23, 2024, Laila Atiku, daughter of former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar, married Saleh Maitala in a ceremony held at the National Mosque in Abuja.
The event marked a significant milestone for the Abubakar family, following a traditional engagement process that began last year when Atiku hosted Maitala’s family to formally request Laila’s hand in marriage.
The wedding was characterized by a simple yet colorful Fatiha ceremony, attended by numerous dignitaries, including former governors and political leaders from northern Nigeria.
Laila looked radiant in a sparkling white gown, while Saleh complemented her in traditional attire.
Atiku expressed his joy on social media, stating, “The joy of giving away a daughter in marriage supported by family and friends is priceless,” and extended his wishes for a blessed marriage to the couple.
He also thanked all who attended, highlighting the support from friends and family during this joyous occasion.
The ceremony was filled with music and celebration, reflecting the couple’s new journey together.
