Tesla CEO Elon Musk has accepted Donald Trump’s offer to serve in his cabinet if elected president in 2024.
In a brief post on X (formerly Twitter), Musk shared an AI-generated image of himself standing at a podium labeled “Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE),” along with the caption “I am willing to serve.”
The response comes after Trump said he would consider appointing Musk to a cabinet position or advisory role in his administration, praising him as a “very smart” and “brilliant guy.”
Trump also hinted at potentially reversing the $7,500 electric vehicle tax credit, which Musk has supported.
Musk had publicly endorsed Trump’s candidacy last month after an assassination attempt on the former president.
The two recently held a two-hour discussion on X, during which Musk expressed interest in joining a government commission to study the national debt and Congressional spending.
While some have speculated about Musk’s potential involvement in a future Trump administration, the billionaire has not yet directly commented on whether he would accept a formal position.
However, his “I am willing to serve” response has sparked a flurry of reactions on X, with one user suggesting the “perfect name” for Musk’s department: the “Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
