The federal government has made significant strides in addressing the recent protests against rising living costs.
During a Council of State meeting on August 13, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu revealed that authorities have blocked N83 billion (approximately $50 million) in funds linked to these protests.
This includes $38 million frozen in four cryptocurrency wallets and N4 billion from political contributions in regions like Abuja, Kano, and Kaduna.
He also indicated that a European national is believed to be the mastermind behind the protests, particularly the display of foreign flags.
Local collaborators have already been arrested. The protests, which began on August 1, escalated into violence, resulting in at least 17 deaths, particularly in the northern states.
As tensions rise, the military has condemned the use of foreign flags, labeling it a treasonable act.
President Bola Tinubu has urged protesters to refrain from allowing external influences to undermine Nigeria’s democratic processes, emphasizing the need for unity in addressing the country’s challenges.
