In a significant escalation of tensions, Iran has launched a substantial missile and drone attack on Israel, marking a dramatic response to an Israeli airstrike on an Iranian consulate in Damascus that resulted in the deaths of senior military commanders.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi stated that the attack was intended to “teach the Zionist enemy a lesson,” warning that any further Israeli aggression would provoke an even stronger reaction.
The assault involved over 300 drones and missiles, with Israeli air defenses reportedly intercepting 99% of them.
Additionally, Israel confirmed that its consulate in Isfahan was targeted by small drones.
However, five ballistic missiles managed to breach these defenses, hitting an Israeli air base that houses F-35 fighter jets.
This latest round of violence underscores the long-standing animosity between the two nations, with Iran viewing Israel as a significant threat.
The situation remains tense as both sides brace for potential further confrontations in the region.
