The federal government has announced the sale of 50kg bags of rice for N40,000 at designated centers across all states in Nigeria.
This is part of the government’s efforts to ease the rising cost of food and address the demands of protesters.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated that the government has already distributed 10 trucks of rice to each state, with plans for more interventions.
He argued that the planned nationwide protests are unnecessary since the government is already taking steps to address the challenges faced by citizens.
The government expects food prices to decline further as investments are made in traditional agricultural production and irrigation activities.
However, some logistical delays have slowed the rollout of CNG buses, which are expected to reduce transportation costs by over 60%.
