A 31-year-old Nigerian man, Marcus Adepoju, has been handed a 28-year prison sentence by Woolwich Crown Court in the U.K. for his involvement in attempted m¥rder, possession of fir£arms, and other offenses.
Adepoju’s arrest stemmed from an incident in Edmonton, London, where he allegedly attempted to sh%%t someone over a £3.50 dr¥gs debt. The incident occurred in April 2023, when a man reported being sh%t at through a window by a masked assailant at a house on Nelgarde Road, Catford. While the shots narrowly missed the victim, they caused superficial wounds from glass shards and extensive property damage.
An investigation led authorities to Adepoju, who was captured on CCTV traveling from the scene to a nearby storage facility in Forest Hill. Upon searching the unit, police discovered two fir£arms, ammunition, dr¥gs, cash, and knives. Another storage unit linked to Adepoju contained additional ammunition, cash, and dr¥gs.
Further forensic analysis connected one of the seized g¥ns to the sh%%ting incident, as well as to another incident in March 2023 involving a bullet hole found in a lorry in Forest Hill. Adepoju’s DNA was also found on both fir£arms.
In court, Adepoju pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including possession of fir£arms, money laundering, possession with intent to supply class A dr¥gs, and possession of bladed articles. Additionally, he was found guilty of attempted m¥rder, possession of a fir£arm and ammunition with intent to end@nger life, and another count of possession with intent to supply class A dr¥gs.
The severity of the offenses led to the imposition of a lengthy prison sentence, underscoring the consequences of criminal activity and the importance of upholding the law.
