In a significant move to safeguard educational environments, the Anambra State Government has banned all social events, including weddings, shows, and entertainment, from being held on public school premises.
This decision was announced by Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, the Commissioner for Education, in a statement issued on Saturday.
The ban aims to protect school facilities from potential damage and misuse caused by such gatherings.
Chuma-Udeh emphasized that school premises should not be treated as commercial venues, warning principals and head teachers against violating this directive.
She stated that any school leader who disregards this policy will face severe consequences.
The commissioner has instructed the chairpersons of the Post Primary Schools Services Commission and the State Universal Basic Education Board to ensure that all educational institutions are informed about this new policy and comply with it.
