The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of Bristol Tamunobiefiri, known by his pseudonym PIDOM, on August 5, 2024, in a hotel room in Rivers State.

PIDOM, an anonymous whistleblower behind the X.com handle #PIDOMNIGERIA, was taken into custody by officials from the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) for allegedly committing serious offences that undermine the integrity of government operations.

According to Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, PIDOM faces several allegations, including unlawful possession, leakage of classified documents, and cyber-related offences.

The police have assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted to address these serious charges and that they will leave no stone unturned to enforce the law and ensure national security.

The confirmation comes after investigative journalist David Hundeyin revealed that PIDOM was alive and in police custody, set to be arraigned in court next week.

The news led to widespread concern and a trending campaign on X.com, with hashtags like #PIDOM, #FreePidom, and #WhereisPidom being used to demand information about his whereabouts and call for his release.

The police have reiterated their commitment to upholding the law and maintaining a secure nation for all Nigerians.
