Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has officially launched the payment of a new minimum wage of ₦70,000 for civil servants, marking a significant step towards enhancing worker welfare.
This initiative, which began in August 2024, aligns with the recent federal legislation aimed at improving the financial stability of public sector employees.
During a meeting with labor leaders, Fintiri emphasized the government’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of its workforce, stating, “Our civil servants deserve this and more.”
The new wage structure is expected to provide better economic support for workers, allowing them to thrive amidst rising living costs.
While state government employees will receive the new wage immediately, local government workers may have to wait until September for adjustments.
This decision reflects the administration’s dedication to fostering a supportive environment for all employees, ensuring that their contributions to the state’s development are recognized and rewarded.
The governor’s proactive approach demonstrates a commitment to building a prosperous future for the citizens of Adamawa State.
