The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has launched a significant operation in Bauchi State to tackle the alarming issue of counterfeit Milo chocolate drinks flooding the market.
This three-day initiative, announced by State Coordinator Dr. Paul Kamai, aims to inspect various markets and superstores to eliminate these fake products, following directives from NAFDAC headquarters.
Dr. Kamai emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating that the inspections began on Tuesday and will continue throughout the week.
In addition to addressing fake Milo, NAFDAC plans to engage with agrochemical dealers to discuss the dangers of using banned chemicals in food storage as the harvest season approaches.
The agency also reminded bakers and packaged water producers to renew their licenses promptly to avoid penalties that could disrupt their business operations.
Furthermore, Dr. Kamai encouraged small and medium enterprises to register their products with NAFDAC to ensure compliance and market entry, highlighting the agency’s commitment to consumer safety and product integrity.
