The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has highlighted several key points regarding the quality of products from the Dangote Refinery.
Firstly, the agency has stressed that the products from the Dangote Refinery are inferior in quality compared to imported petroleum products.
This inferiority in quality is a significant concern for the NMDPRA, as it raises doubts about the refinery’s ability to meet the country’s energy needs.
Secondly, the NMDPRA has warned that Nigeria cannot solely rely on the Dangote Refinery to avoid a monopoly.
The agency believes that the refinery’s products do not meet the standards required to compete with imported products, which are of higher quality.
This means that even with the Dangote Refinery’s increased capacity, Nigeria will still need to import some products to ensure a reliable and high-quality supply.
